When Worldcon comes to Australia, it brings with it all sorts of interesting and wonderful people, opportunities and things. And if you can’t make it to the convention in Melbourne, sometimes the attendees make a side trip (to Sydney, yay!) to do a signing in your favourite bookshop.
A welcome surprise (the “thing” in the constellation of wonderful, if you like) was the early release of Kate Elliott’s Cold Magic which was scheduled for September but made available by Orbit just for the signing:
The signing session started at 1730 and wound down half an hour late at 1900. The authors signed extra copies of their books for Galaxy (yep, Galaxy does mail order) before heading off.
Many thanks to Charles Stross, Karen Miller and Kate Elliott for putting up with me, and also to Galaxy for arranging the signing.
