A family trip to the Hunter Valley coincided with the Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena) breeding season. This provided me with an opportunity to see these birds at rest.

We stayed at a converted barn. The nest was located under the eaves, just opposite the north-facing loft window. The presence of an accessible veranda made these photos possible.

We counted five fledgelings.
